Preview - ACC T20 Cup 2013

ACC T20 Cup is up for grabs as 10 non-test playing Asian countries battle it out in breezy summer at Kathmandu. The tournament serves as a pathway to ICC World T20 2014 as  two teams will go through to the ICC WorldTwenty20 Qualifier in November. Three-times winners Afghanistan have pre-qualified as an ODI nation and UAE are also through as hosts of the November qualifier, which leaves two places up for grabs.

Nepal have benefit of being the host country as over 10,000 supporters are sure to fill up TU stadium to cheer their team to victory. Nepal is set to start the campaign in full confidence after winning two back to back international tournamets ICC World Cricket league division 4 and ACC Cup held in UAE last year.

The three time champions are looking for 4th title but will be let down by absence of some key players due to injury and squad rotation. Afghanistan are fatigued from recently concluded 5th round of ICC World Cricket League.

Like Afghanistan, UAE also suffers from lack of key team members due to injury and squad rotation. UAE were joint winner along with Nepal in ACC Trophy last year.

Oman won 1st ACC T20 as a joint winner along with Afghanistan. They are looking to make an impression on this one as well.

Likewise other teams Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore are equally matched in terms of skills and confidence. On other hand Bahrain and Kuwait have potential to become giant killer and dark horse ina long run. Maldives are also keen on improving their performance compared to last year.
